May 15, 2008 (FPRC) -- WRVS is once again delighted to celebrate the excellence of staff and teams at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust by sponsoring the annual Recognising Excellence Awards which this year took place on 24 April.
WRVS works hand in hand with the NHS to help support them in initiatives that can improve, develop and promote the quality of patient care and services. In support of this, WRVS has been sponsoring the awards at the trust for a number of years.
The awards are divided into six categories;
Innovation – introducing an initiative unique to the trust which adds value and improvement to the delivery of patient care or other services. The award was won by the palliative care team.
Reducing carbon footprint (going green, staying green) – recognising the implementation of a new way of working or service change aimed at reducing waste or conserving energy and promoting environmentally sustainable ways of working. The award was won by the medical illustration team for embracing electronic patient technology.
Infection control – making an outstanding difference to the management, control and prevention of infections in the trust. The award was won by domestic services for deep clean work to contribute to reducing hospital-acquired infections.
What matters to staff? – responding to staff feedback to make Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Trust a great place to work. The award was won by the audiology department who implemented new working patterns.
Teams and staff across the trust are encouraged to enter and this year a total of 38 applications were made.
