New Model Railways Store Opening Online

A new model railway store opens its doors to model railways enthusiasts and collectors of model trains on Saturday 16th June 2009

May 15, 2009 (FPRC) -- Trains ‘n’ Railways, a UK based retailer, will officially commence trading online on 16th May 2009, initially offering Hornby trains and train sets at seriously discounted prices. However, once they have been trading for a short while, the intention is to increase the number of different manufacturer’s ranges on offer.

Andy Town, one of three partners behind the operation commented:
“We are really excited about this launch. It has taken quite a while to get to this stage, but now we are ready to go. The strategic fit with Hornby is excellent, as they are quite local to us geographically. We believe that this type of industry is in a growth phase as it is an area that appeals to the whole family, and I think that the current economic climate has rekindled hobbies and interests that are home and family based. We have definitely seen an increase in this area already this year”

Two of the partners, Stuart Pike and Steve Smith, currently run a successful online finance brokerage. “Opening a store like this is a complete diversification from our normal business activities.’ said Steve Smith. ‘However, because of the knowledge we have of internet marketing, that side of things should be pretty straightforward. We have already seen a steady growth of visitors to the site and we are not even open yet, which is great news apart from the fact that they can’t buy any of the model trains just yet!”

Trains ‘n’ Railways are already looking for some retail premises to run the operation from. Stuart Pike added:
“Having run a financial business for the last 12 years, running a stock based operation has come as a real eye opener. Setting this operation up over the last few months has been an eventful process, with obstacles to negotiate appearing around every corner, and a different challenge every day. Compared to the cutting edge technology in the finance industry this is like Life on Mars! We also now see the imminent need for a premise to run the operation from and that will also enable us to open to the public, which I am sure will bring with it another set of challenges. It’s all interesting stuff!
