April 15, 2011 (FPRC) -- Dr. Sandra Belmont, a renowned New York LASIK surgeon, has been featured in a syndicated news story on laser eye surgery. Recently broadcast on KTVB News in Idaho, the report aims to educate viewers and prospective LASIK eye surgery patients about the advancements in laser vision correction since its approval by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1995.

In the national news report, Dr. Belmont is asked to give her expert opinion on LASIK eye surgery candidacy and to correct the vision of a former LASIK patient using PRK, an alternative treatment for patients who may not qualify for LASIK. After two LASIK procedures performed by other doctors, the patient experienced deteriorating vision as well as side effects that included halos and starbursts. Dr. Belmont successfully treated the patient with PRK.
