October 13, 2011 (FPRC) -- GRAPEVINE, TX -- Jason Halek, the head of Halek Charities, continues to support the Wounded Warrior Project through an ongoing monthly donation. The Wounded Warrior Project is just one of the many charities that Halek Charities supports.
The Wounded Warrior Project works with sailors, soldiers, airmen and Marines who have been injured in the line of duty. The Project aims to help a generation of members of the Armed Forces become well adjusted both physically and mentally, despite the aftereffects of war. The program offers readjustment services such as interaction programs, outdoor rehabilitative retreats, peer support, adaptive sports, health, nutrition and recreational activities that all help warriors adjust to a life of independence and add to their overall quality of life.
"The previous generations of warriors returned home and were immediately expected to adjust to life outside of the military world. Mental health was a low priority and there was a stigma attached to anyone asking for help in maintaining healthy, meaningful relationships with family and friends once they returned from overseas. Now however, with the Wounded Warriors Project, military members can seek help without worrying about the barrier or stigma attached to seeking help with either mental or physical ailments," said Jason Halek.
The Wounded Warrior Project services are all free to service members who have received injuries, wounds or illnesses that occurred on or after September 11, 2001. Veterans and their friends founded the program in 2003 specifically to help the most recent round of veterans. Although there are many different veterans' programs to support veterans of all generations, the Wounded Warrior Project is the only nationally recognized charity that works to support those who were specifically injured in the most recent conflicts faced by the United States.
"The Wounded Warrior Project is a cause near and dear to my heart. It helps support the men and women in the Armed Forces who have given so much of themselves in defense of our country. It's one of the most worthwhile charities that I can think of and I'm proud to be counted among its many supporters. If you're looking for a worthy charity to support, the Wounded Warrior Project is one of the best," said Jason Halek.
