November 2, 2012 (FPRC) -- Athens, GA -- Dolphin Dive Center (DDC) presents guest speaker Windsor Gray, Assistant Dive Safety Officer and Volunteer Diving Programs Coordinator at Georgia Aquarium, for View from Inside the Shark Tank; a lively discussion that goes behind the scenes of the aquarium’s Dive Operations Program. The presentation, being held at Dolphin Dive Center on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 7pm, will share Ms. Gray’s experiences at the aquarium and her work in scientific diving, field research and collections, and the Dive Immersion Program, which directs volunteer opportunities at the aquarium for certified scuba divers.
“We look forward to welcoming Ms. Gray,” says DDC owner Tim Bridgham. “At our shop, we promote diving all year round. With winter approaching, I think more than a few of us will be inspired to volunteer at the aquarium, both by Ms. Gray’s impressive work experience and by her unique insight into the aquarium’s diver program.”
Since 2005, Georgia Aquarium Dive Volunteers have contributed over 60,000 hours of underwater time. Volunteers dive in and clean exhibits around the aquarium, to the delight of onlookers of all ages. Aquarium visitors experience an added thrill to see humans in the tanks with the sharks, manta rays and tropical fish. And the program offers continuing diver education which appeals to DDC, an organization whose mission is to cultivating strong, highly-skilled divers.
“You don’t have to be a scuba diver to attend Ms. Gray’s presentation,” adds Bridgham. “Anyone who is interested in the aquarium will enjoy the evening, one that promises fascinating facts and behind-the-scenes anecdotes by a local authority on the world’s largest aquarium.”
