BC Charity & Vancouver Startup Launch Mobile Deal Platform to Help Local Kids, Reduce Worst Child Poverty Rates in Canada

Save Everyday for KidSafe fundraises for services that help more than 450 vulnerable inner-city children

Vancouver, BC – Grassroots children’s charity KidSafe, in partnership with Vancouver tech startup SaveEveryday.com, launch Save Everyday for KidSafe. A mobile coupon membership, Save Everyday provides discounts at more than 500 local businesses for $20. Proceeds go towards providing support, safety, programming and nutritious meals for vulnerable children in Vancouver. This digital initiative represents a new, original approach to fundraising.

The platform launches just days after British Columbia was confirmed as having the worst child poverty rates in Canada at 18.6 percent.

“One in five children in Vancouver live below the poverty line. Our goal is to raise awareness and resources for the most vulnerable in our city while giving back to our supporters. Save Everyday means that working families can benefit from saving money while helping kids in need. Such an initiative helps the children we serve, our kind donors, and local businesses: a win/win/win during a time of year when there are so many competing asks for help,” said Gerhard Maynard, Executive Director of KidSafe.

For every purchased membership, KidSafe can provide:
• a full day’s nutrition for three children;
• a week of transit access for a youth to access a free program in their community;
• an educational out trip for a child.

In addition to accessing $11,000 in local savings, Save Everyday for KidSafe supporters receive benefits at more than 250,000 locations in 155 cities across North America. Vancouver partners include A&W, Quiznos, The Donnelly Group, Kobe Steakhouse, Car2Go, Jiffy Lube, Best Western, Urban Thai Bistro, Budget Rent-A-Car, John Fluevog Shoes, and many more.

“With all deals available digitally, members can access them anywhere with their cell phone and we worked with local businesses to pass on great savings to each member,” explained Nissa Rhodes, Community Engagement at SaveEveryday.com.

KidSafe provides safe, nurturing environments to 450 of Vancouver’s most vulnerable children each year. Programs are run in partnership with six inner-city schools that refer children considered at risk socially, emotionally, physically or economically. At full day camps during school breaks, and after school programs throughout the year, activities include: walking school bus to get kids safely to the programs they require; arts with the Vancouver Police Department to build trust in the authorities; literacy exercises to increase school-success; exercise activities to build skills, confidence, and health; and daily hot meals for full nutrition.

KidSafe is also selling memberships at the Vancouver Christmas Market, from November 22 – December 24.
