Veteran law enforcement officer offers unique insights and practical recommendations for Rejuvenating today's most fragile and important relationship --
Dalton L. Price, a 23-year veteran of law enforcement, announced today that he has released a new book, "The Guide To Community Policing 3.0: Rejuvenating today's most fragile and important relationship." The book, which is intended for Community Leaders, Faith-Based Organizations and Law Enforcement agencies, covers a range of potentially sensitive but important subjects as it offers practical suggestions on establishing a meaningful police-community relationship.
"I decided to write this book as a way to share many of the lessons I have learned in a long law enforcement career, working directly with people affected by crime as well as by people who have made bad choices that led them into criminal careers," said Price. "My background and extensive training in Law Enforcement and Community Policing gives me the insight needed to start a conversation that will lead to a more cohesive relationship and society."
Inspired by A 23-Year Career in Law Enforcement
Over almost a quarter of a century, Price has served in the patrol division, Anti-Crime unit, Street Crime unit, Emergency Services, the Gang/Gang Enforcement unit. He served on the Countywide Narcotics and Gang Unit as a Task Force Officer. A stint as a Task Force Officer to the New Jersey State Street Gang/ North unit followed this assignment.
The skills and relationships developed through these assignments enabled Dalton to supervise the "Operation Impact Unit," which was designed to place officers in certain at-risk communities and find out what their concerns were. This information was then used to create a special "Anti Crime Unit" that was charged with addressing those concerns.
The book describes these and other types of innovative law enforcement practices. The content transcends racial and ethnic lines. Its theories apply to urban as well as suburban communities. It is meant to aid Law Enforcement agencies of any ethnic makeup enabling them to implement its proven practices.
Price serves as the President of the Bronze Shields of Passaic County, (The County's Minority Law Enforcement Association) the 1st Vice President to the local Chapter of the NAACP, a member of N.O.B.L.E. (National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives), N.O.B.W.L.E. (National Organization of Black Women in Law Enforcement) and is a member of the National Black Police Association. He has also testified before the New Jersey General Assemble on the lure of Gangs and Guns. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Fairleigh Dickenson University.
Advance Praise from the Law Enforcement Community
The book is already receiving notice from prominent members of the law enforcement community. According to Matthew W. Horace, CNN Law Enforcement Analyst, "This book is the most powerful introduction of Community Police/ Relation that I have read and should be mandatory for any Law Enforcement Agency or Community Activist who wishes to improve their relationship." He then added,
"Community Policing 3.0 transcends Races, Communities and even Countries. As I read the book I couldn't help but think about what I could do to improve the relationship that I now have with my own local Law Enforcement Officers and my neighbors whom I share this universe with."
The book is available on Amazon.com as well as at communitypolicingtoday.com.
